An Idiot’s Claim To Fame

In an article by George M. Walsh / Associated Press the convicted assassin of John Lennon, who was denied parole last week for the seventh time, said his motivation for killing Lennon was instant notoriety. He also told the parole board he was surprised more celebrities haven't been the targets of violence and said he has thought about someone trying to kill him as a way to gain fame as the person who avenged Lennon.

The worm who shall remain nameless has said he considered killing several other celebrities and told the parole board he wanted Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, to know that he felt no anger toward Lennon.

"It wasn't anything against her husband as a person, only as a famous person," he said. "If he was less famous than three or four other people on the list, he would not have been shot. And that's the truth."

Society is more fame crazy than ever and he certainly has a point when he said he was surprised more celebrities haven't been the targets of violence and thought about someone trying to kill him as a way to gain fame as the person who avenged Lennon. That’s actually a pretty interesting idea. Not killing a celebrity, that’s stupid, selfish and damaging to one’s karma, but the idea of avenging John Lennon by shooting the worm is kind of intriguing. He’s stuck in prison for at least the next two years but if he gets out when I’m old and dying anyway, if I’m not too sick and can still afford the ammo, it might be worth considering since it would make me the Jack Ruby of The Beatles. What a messed up claim to fame.
