Backstabber Lyrics

Backstabber Lyrics

Backstabber lyrics was written from my experience living in a Ann Arbor, Michigan rooming with post graduate students.  I have no college education and was somewhat looked down upon.  We all shared this 10 bedroom house, which was 3 stories high with a basement.  There were bedrooms on each floor and we shared the common spaces - the bathrooms and kitchen and living room.  My domain was upstairs, which was where it as the warmest.  HOT, to say the least, where all the heat ended up from the rest of the house!
Backstabber Lyrics
To my face everybody was friendly and cordial, but one day they were talking about me and my friends in a mocking, put-downish, making-fun-of way.  What they did not know was I was in the very next room listening.  It hurt!  The more educated you were, the more real you were supposed to be, right?  NOT!  Hence came these lyrics.
BACKSTABBER LYRICS
Words and Music by Greg Piper
Verse 1:
Look me in the eye, try to deny
The love you gave to me was no more than a lie.
Sacrifice your guise, tell me it's not true
The things you said behind my back, things I said to you.
Chorus:
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is turn on you.
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is twist & turn the knife.
Verse 2:
Tell me to my face, allege your case
What makes you feel so cool among the human race.
How can I erase what everybody knows
You made a fool of me & now my anger grows.
Chorus:
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is turn on you.
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is twist & turn the knife.
Bridge:
Don't you know that I have feelings too and I would never do the same to you.
Thought you were different from the rest. Why did you put our love to the test.
Chorus:
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is turn on you.
Backstabber - All they ever do, all they ever do is twist & turn the knife.
